Royal Ascot Day 4 - Preview and Picks

Albany Stakes - SIGNORA + GOLD DIGGER (e/w)

SIGNORA - Was an unlucky 3rd on debut when getting the hang of things late on when getting out of trouble that it had been in during the race. The winner that day was Lady Iman who has good form beating True Love who was an impressive winner of the Queen Mary Stakes on Wednesday. Serious Contender.

GOLD DIGGER - Wasn't asked to do much on debut and when pushed it took off an won very impressively despite the '1/2L' win which is deceiving. Was a 260,000 breeze up purchase and can have much more to offer here.

Small mention to On Cecelia beat Rogue Legend in a 5f race who went on to finish 3rd in the Windsor Castle Stakes.

Commonwealth Cup - SHISOSPICY (e/w) + SHADOW OF LIGHT

SHISOSPICY - Really impressive in America, full of pace, has had some troubles with the 6f, but has definitely improved since and so could be better here. Is a nice price at 12/1, may be slightly unsuited by track but should be very classy.

SHADOW OF LIGHT - 3rd in the English 2000 Guineas, clearly will like the straight 6f at Ascot and the ground conditions. Has great 6f form including winning the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes. Would've prepped very nicely for this and is the one to beat.

Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes - ETHICAL DIAMOND + HAND OF GOD (e/w)

ETHICAL DIAMOND - 4th here last year and only up 2lb for this renewal and so can go well again. Ryan Moore takes the ride and is a nice positive. Has improved over hurdles and so could be better than this mark.

HAND OF GOD - Buick set to ride who got him his win at Ascot 2 starts ago. Poor return to this season when 9/13. Was well supported and so may have needed the run, also, this step up in trip could further help his claims.

Coronation Stakes - FLIGHT (e/w)

FLIGHT - May be a big ask here as there are a lot of improving types and unexposed types too, but winning the guineas was a tough task and she got 2nd by 1 Length so not impossible. When I saw FLIGHT for her reappearance at the Guineas festival she looked so much bigger than before, more muscular and a lot more scopey.

Some could argue that then why did she only manage 6th at the Curraghs 1000 Irish Guineas, I think it was all to do with track layout. This is because on straight line 7f and 8f races in previous runs she has a record of 1/3/3/2, then she goes to the Curragh which has bends and she gets 6th. Therefore, a straight 1m at Ascot is sure to suit and hopefully she can run a big race, 20/1 is a crazy price when looking at form, of course this looks a deep race but based off form not sure why many have ruled her out.

Sandringham Stakes - PURPLE RAINBOW (e/w) + TABITI (e/w)

PURPLE RAINBOW - Was decent when having a tough challenge last out. Should be more improvement to come and could be on a good mark here. 28/1 seems very good value for what should be a nice improving horse.

TABITI - Could have huge potential, was thrown into a group 1 and wasn't that bad considering. Could be dangerous now back into handicaps and opening mark could be very small for the potential that she has. Improvement expected.

King Edward V|| Stakes - AMILOC + NIGHTWALKER (e/w)

AMILOC - Unbeaten, may even improve more again with another furlong. Has the ability to take something like this. Last race was such an impressive win and proved why it may be even be better here with no trouble in running.

NIGHTWALKER - I backed it for the Derby but on the day the conditions may have hindered its chances. Has shown that a step up in trip will suit and should help its chances, especially when looking back at the Dante. Will be suited to how this race may pan out and take shape.

Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes - HAMMERTHEHAMMER

HAMMERTHEHAMMER - So progressive, last 2 6f races it has had it has won by over 10 Lengths. Up a lot on ratings but could further defy the rise in mark and weights here. A very nice e/w price and could definitely be one in here with a real chance.
